Eddie Murphy Hosting The Oscars!?

7 Sep

It was only rumoured for a while that he would host but finally it was formally announced by the AMPAS that he will be hosting the 84th Annual Academy Awards. I don’t know. This doesn’t seem like the obvious choice. The ‘hip’ and ‘cool’ method that they tried to use with Anne Hathaway and James Franco. I very much agreed with the general consensus that they were atrocious. Perhaps it wasn’t all their fault but it was a very dull show. They’ve tried the comedy approach this time which could be a crowd-pleaser but I’m not sure. The other big choice Jerry Seinfeld shows that they were definitely going down the previously mentioned comedy route. Like I said, I’m not sure. What do you think?

Wow, really?! That’s got to be interesting!

I mean, I love Eddie Murphy, he’s just hilarious! But it seems like a bit of a strange choice for the more formal setting of the Academy Awards, doesnt it?

Who know’s though, he could turn out to be amazing! Cos he’s actually a comedian, (well, maybe not officially but more of one than some previous hosts) and so I’d reckon he’s actually do a pretty good job of it, keeping the crowd laughing, but not losing the classy touch. Regardless, I’d love to see what he would be like!

      Thanks for the comment!

It is a really funny how they’re going a different direction from last year. I’m not a big fan of his but it could work. He’s quite good at doing predictable humour which is what The Oscars do so he might turn out to be the perfect host.

      Stick around!

        Aah no problem!

Yeah, it is a bit of an “out-there” choice, so to speak. Well, I havent actually seen much of his live stuff but I love him on-screen! That’s fair enough though- he doesnt float everyone’s boat. Yeah I suppose, so hopefully he’ll turn out to be really good! We’ll just have to wait and see I guess.

Will do- and subscribing for your reviews! 😀

It is. I was never impressed by his SNL stuff and I’m just generally not a fan. Thinking more about it though, it could be the kind of thing he’s good at it. I’ll be talking about the Oscars more now that awards season coming closer and closer!

I could not agree more. Eddie was funny (to some) in the 80’s but we’ve moved on or so I thought.

Yeah, I think his humour has been and gone. It’s very predictable but that’s what The Oscars do. He could turn out to be the perfect host. He might be able to pull it off because he could get the crowd interested. I just didn’t see the goofy Eddie Murphy as the obvious choice.
