Outnumbered Series 4 Premiere

3 Sep

Outnumbered is one of my favourite BBC comedy series of all time. It’s very charming, funny and it puts a very big smile on your face. The kids are superb and their improvisation makes the show enjoyable whilst creating a great atmosphere for the programme. What I’ve always appreciated about this show is that it’s very honest. You know what you’re getting and it’s quite an innocent show but knows when to be serious and to advance the plot. Let’s face it, family life isn’t always perfect. But in the end, families love each other.

Let me say this: it was a funny episode. But I can’t only sing praises. This is only the season premiere after all so I don’t want to make any quick judgements. My main issue with the show is that the kids have grown up now. There not as young as they were but there not as fresh as they were. They kind of know what to say now so their improvisation doesn’t quite pack that initial punch that it used to. They are still incredibly funny and Ramona Marquez will still make you laugh very loud while the character of Ben can still do the stupidest things that a ten year old is capable of. Jake frustrated me as he always does.

If you’ve liked this show in the past then you will still like it but after such a strong series premiere last year, it feels like the concept isn’t as impressive as it used to be. Still, I would highly advise you watch it as it’s the perfect thing to brighten up your Friday/Saturday night. I’ve criticised it a bit too much I think, but it’s still very good.
